Iron Man 2

Laaija went for her second movie in the theatre, Iron Man 2. Though She slept mid-way through the movie, she thoroughly enjoyed the first half. She even clapped her hands when Tony Stark introduced Stark Expo to the world.

She also learnt that the pop-corn can be a good fun to throw it around and scatter on the floor. She shouted few times during the movie in responses to few sequences happening on-screen.

Emotional Atyachar

No! I didn't do it.

Our naughty toddler is growing up fast and is learning all the emotions of an Individual. Yesterday, her nanny went home early and she went all emotional. She wailed, threw toys, hit us for all reasons of her own. I had seen other kid where they threw temper tantrums and acts of aggression that I wished my child should not do.

Well, I realized its impossible to control kid’s behavior every moment of every day. At 16 months, a toddler still acts on nearly every impulse, and it’s going to take years of guidance before she has enough self-control to behave appropriately in every situation.

Here is what Babycenter has to say about Toddlers and I’ve a feeling, it’s very true — “Toddlers live large – they love large, they play all out, and they have big, passionate feelings. When they need to have an emotional blow-out, they may signal it by doing something they know you will stop, like pulling another child’s hair, or by using a small pretext, like a broken cookie, as a “last straw” so that they can fall apart.”

Leia April fooled her parents

Leia april fooled her parents

Leia had her first April fool prank on us, unintentionally, but in a very polished way. Around 12:30am-ish today, Leia seem to have twisted her elbow and she cried to the intent of waking everyone in the neighborhood. The assumption from her cries and the pain she had when we move her arm, let us to believe that something did happened.

I sprang into action, so did Shanta and we were off in the middle of the night, with the intention to rush to the Casualty at Ruby Hall Clinic (perhaps the nearest one from us). I was sure, it’s not broken but she might have twisted her elbow and a doctor’s attention would do good.

However, when we reached downstairs, she had somehow stopped crying; instead, she wanted to play with the dogs around. She even started doing the “boooo-boooo” and began running around. I double-checked and tried various movement combinations of her arms. She was perfectly OK and was giggling all along. To make sure that things are OK, I let her run around, wave hands, do “bye-bye”. She turned out to be just fine. No more crying but she wanted to play more. Well, for the last couple of days, she had been waking up and playing (swings, running) at mid-night.

So, nothing happened and unintentionally Leia had her April fool prank on us. We ended up watching her favorite Baby Einstein video again before she finally slept.

Atopic Dermatitis

Went to consult the physician for Leia’s skin irritant that have started appearing on her hands and legs. Though they’re minute and not that really noticeable; she tends to scratch them at times. With her recent development of some asthmatic symptoms, I was worried if the situation will go chronic.

Maternal Side

Leia’s maternal genetic have a history of Asthma. Shanta’s parents and relatives are known to have Asthma issues and even she is allergic to dust. Her’s not severe but it does happen at times when cold or exposed to dust. So, the very likelihood of Leia developing some form of Asthma exist and we’re keeping an eye on the allergens.

Paternal Side

Of course not. I’ve never heard any history of Asthma in our family, relatives or anyone. In fact, my parents, uncles, and their cousins were farmers, truck drivers and have mostly engaged in some form of peasantry occupation. I grew up amongst mud, dirt and what not. I remember fishing in the muddiest water, leading any cleaning squad that happens in our locality. I’ve even plowed gardens, carried mud, sand and have done many dirt-cleaning things to earn pocket money. So, no question of Asthma from my side.

Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic Dermatitis is the medical term for the inflammatory skin disease which also goes by the names of — “prurigo Besnier,” “neurodermitis,” “endogenous eczema,” “flexural eczema,” “infantile eczema,” and “prurigo diathsique”.

There are, so far, no cure for AD. It can, however, be treated very effectively in the short term through a combination of prevention (learning what triggers the allergic reactions) and drug therapy.

Preventive Measures

Here are some of the preventive measures advised by doctors.

Diet:

Many common food allergens can trigger an allergic reaction: such as milk, nuts, cheese, tomatoes, wheat, yeast, soy, and corn. Many of these allergens are common ingredients in grocery store products (especially corn syrup, which is a sugar substitute). Breastfeeding is the best way to avoid these problems, but if that is unavailable, then hydrolyzed formulas are preferred to cow’s milk.

Environment and Lifestyle:

Since dust is a very common allergen and irritant, try to stay away from dust and live in a clean environment. The dander from the fur of dogs and cats may also trigger an inflammatory response. It is a common misconception that simply removing an animal from a room will prevent an allergic reaction from occurring. A room must be completely free of animal dander in order to prevent an allergic reaction. Anger, stress, and lack of sleep are also factors that are known to aggravate AD. Excessive heat (especially with humidity) and coldness are known to provoke outbreaks, as well as sudden and extreme temperature swings.

Stay away from fragrance and other cosmetic products, specially those that produces mist. Most commercial soaps wash away all the oils produced by the skin that normally serve to prevent drying. Using a soap substitute such as aqueous cream helps keep the skin moisturized. Showers should be kept short and at a lukewarm/moderate temperature.

Let’s see how things turn out.
